Let’s carry on with the review.

What Is Stella and Dot?

Launched all the way back in 2003 by a Jessica Herrin, Stella & Dot is an MLM opportunity that exists within the field of fashion and accessories.

Stella & Dot first got started as Luxe Jewels, and the idea for the company apparently got started by Herrin while she was attending a convention for the popular Mary Kay brand.

After running with Luxe Jewels for some time and seeing moderate success, Herrin decided to make a change.

“[I]t wasn’t until Jessica met fellow Stanford grad, Blythe Harris, at an alumni event that they realized with Jessica’s original vision and Blythe’s creativity that they could re-launch this social-selling model under a new name, Stella & Dot (named after their grandmothers).”

Jessica Herrin is the current CEO for Stella & Dot, and Blythe Harris is acting as the company’s CCO.

Herrin first got started in the business world with the creation of a bridal registry website, but she eventually sold this to The Wedding Channel (who then ended up selling the site to The Knot for a grand total of $78 million). Herrin possessed the title of Marketing Manager for Dell right about the time that Stella & Dot first started to take off, but I was unable to confirm or deny of she was every an active affiliate for Mary Kay.

In any case, here’s just what Stella & Dot is brining to the table.

What Are The Products For Stella and Dot?

After going through Stella & Dot’s website, it’s easy to see who the company’s target demographic is.

Stella & Dot makes frequent mention that they want to sell products that are appealing to the “modern day” woman, and as such, there are a ton of different items to go through.

Between earrings, charms, watches, clutches, totes, sunglasses and more, Stella & Dot really does have something for everyone.

Products start out around $40 and $50, but can quickly get up to a couple hundred dollars or so if you’re looking at something particularly nice,

This might sound expensive to some readers, but for products in the niche of women’s fashion and jewelry. this is about what you can expect from pretty much all of Stella & Dot’s many competitors.

What Is The Compensation Plan For Stella and Dot?

Just like you’d probably expect, Stella & Dot’s compensation plan has affiliates earning money by selling product to retail customer and recruiting other people to join and do the same thing.

Before you can actually start making anything with your affiliate membership, however, you first need to qualify for the commissions that Stella & Dot is advertising.

Doing this is achieved by generating a minimum of 500 PV every single month. PV (or Personal Volume) is generated through both sales to a retail customer and by the purchase of product for yourself.

Retail Commissions

Once you do qualify for the available commissions, the primary way to earn money is through retail — selling products to customers.

The base commission rate is set at 25%, and while this is a pretty solid amount on its own, you have the ability to increase it as you progress more and more throughout the company.

Earning a higher commission rate is done by increasing your monthly PV rate, and the exact payout for a larger number here works out as follows —

  • Generate a monthly PV of 2500, earn a 30% retail commission rate
  • Generate a monthly PV of 5000, earn a 32% retail commission rate
  • Generate a monthly PV of 10,000, earn a 35% retail commission rate

Residual Commissions

Affiliates for Stella & Dot can earn even more money through residual commissions, and these are paid down through two levels deep of recruitment (handled through a unilevel system).

Residual commissions start out at being able to earn 4% on level one, but in order to earn this bare minimum amount, you’ll need to regularly generate 1000 PV each month.

That could prove to be a bit steep for some people, but with enough work and a few sales of more expensive products, it shouldn’t be too terribly challenging.

What’s Does It Cost To Join Stella and Dot?

If you like what Stella & Dot is offering and you’d like to become an affiliate for the company, you’ll need to choose one of three starter packages to buy.

These packs include —

  • The $199 Essentials Kit which comes with a $350 product voucher
  • The $499 More to Love kit which comes with a $1000 product voucher
  • The $699 Ultimate Kit which comes with a $1500 product voucher

Stella and Dot Review Conclusion

With all of that said and done, I’m rather impressed with what Stella & Dot is offering to be retail customers and affiliates who are looking for a way to earn some extra dough.

The product line of the company’s appears to be of a very high quality, and Stella & Dot regularly updates it with new items so that it doesn’t get boring for anyone.

On the compensation plan side of things, the only real drawback that I could see being an issue for some people is the somewhat high PV requirements. You’ll need to generate at least 1000 PV every month in order to earn on both retail and residual commissions, and for someone who’s never been an affiliate for a direct selling company, this might be an issue.

As with any company along these lines, having any experience with either marketing and/or sales will be greatly beneficial. Couple this with a true passion for what Stella & Dot is selling, and you’re looking at an opportunity that could allow you to earn a nice paycheck after a few good sales.
