Is LuLaRoe really a legit business?

Is LuLaRoe a safe business to join?

Let me show you in my review of LuLaRoe.

Exactly What Is LuLaRoe?

For stay-at-home moms who love fashion and have a knack for sales, LuLaRoe may be your ticket to success. Using clothing and fashion to network and connect mothers all over, LuLaRoe provides a variety of opportunities to make money.

LuLaRoe was founded in 2014 by DeAnne Stidham, whose background in network marketing gave her the credentials to become a fashion entrepreneur and gave her the motivation to start LuLaRoe. Stidham created this company with the goal in mind to give women a way to sell fashionable yet comfortable clothes to like-minded women. Central to LuLaRoe is the opportunity this company provides women in bringing extra income into the house.

LuLaRoe is advertised across a variety of social media outlets: Instagram, Pinterest and Facebook, to name a few. The company has also adopted the idea of “pop-up” parties that many other similar companies use In order to open the products and the ideas of the company to other women. One of the company’s main goals is to inspire women to look their best and feel their best, awhile earning money.

What Is The LuLaRoe Product Line?

The materials used in LuLaRoe’s clothing sets it apart from other fashion. Textile designs created by the company are quite unique and offer many different styles of clothing, such as skirts, dresses, and pants for women as well as for young girls. LuLaRoe has created its clothing to fit all body types, and because of the high quality of materials used, all LuLaRoe items require special hand washing or dry cleaning in order to maintain the craftsmanship of the clothes that the company prides itself in.

Because LuLaRoe has made it a point to make its clothes available for all body types, the pieces do tend to run a bit big, thus possibly requiring alteration for smaller figures. In addition, the unique textiles are definitely for a certain taste and may not be to everyone’s liking. While some may like the floral prints, others may dislike them. There are quite a number of options, but again, may not be for everyone.

Along the same lines, it appears that the colors, patterns, and styles of LuLaRoe’s pieces are geared more towards mature women than younger fashion-forward women. Straying from overly trendy pieces, LuLaRoe appears to offer items that are staples, with a fun twist.

It’s pleasing to see that this company has a proper product line.

So many business opportunities I’ve reviewed recently have been selling nothing but “Air” and pseudo pyramid schemes. Some examples would be Exitus Elite, THWGlobal and Fission Coin where there is no proper retail activity going on – basically just affiliates recriting more affiliates.

I’m glad to see that LuLaRoe has proper product line.

What Can You Tell Me About The Compensation Plan For LuLaRoe?

LuLaRoe requires its fashion consultants to begin with an order of 250-450 pieces of clothing, ringing in at somewhere between $4,500 and $6,500. This price varies depending upon how many items the consultant decides to keep on-hand for her LuLaRoe pop-up parties. This first order made by LuLaRoe fashion consultants is known as the “starter inventory” and will create a solid base from which the consultant can build her business.

The above numbers have been verified by LuLaRoe consultants who have invested their time and money into becoming a part of this company. LuLaRoe also provides a business starter kit for new consultants which includes the following:

  • Training booklet
  • Spiral notebook planner
  • Catalog
  • Fabric swatches
  • Clothing hangers
  • Thank-you cards
  • Flyers for advertising
  • Other promotional materials
  • Sign-in sheets

The success of LuLaRoe consultants seem to rely heavily upon their use of internet marketing. Women hosting pop-up parties and advertising them across social media are able to gather quite a turn out for the parties, resulting in a great number of sales even as soon as the first two months with LuLaRoe. A large piece of the bigger LuLaRoe saleswomen’s’ income is done via the creation of a downline sales team. By leading a group of smaller fashion consultants, some consultants are able to turn the fast start bonuses of their sales team members into a great deal of money.

LuLaRoe requires fashion consultants to complete as well as pay for the shipping and handling of their orders. Orders received at a fashion consultant’s pop-up party and order received online must be packaged as soon as possible by the consultant and mailed to the customer. Sales tax is also something that consultants are expected to cover out-of-pocket.

LuLaRoe’s Compensation Plan provides details about the company’s payment structure, including what you need to become a LuLaRoe fashion consultant:

#1. Fill out a paper or online application to become a consultant. If you opt for a paper application, you must scan and send via fax or email to LuLaRoe with a copy of a voided check.

#2. Fill out the Onboarding Checklist – your initial order to get started. Here you will choose 375-350 pieces for your initial inventory. This first order of yours allows you to choose what you want to have in your inventory. Each style you choose will have anywhere from 40-80 pieces. Below is an example of what you will receive when ordering leggings.

  • 80 pairs of leggings (15 one-size-fits-all, 10 tall and curvy, 5 tween, 5 kids small/medium, 5 kids large/extra large)

#3. There are a few different package options that LuLaRoe provides:
Package #1: $4,812 for 336 pieces

Package #2: $5,365 for 365 pieces

Package #3: $6,784 for 463 pieces

#4. Payment for LuLaRoe also offers 3 options:

  • Fashion consultant is required a minimum order of 33 pieces per month in order to receive payment. Consultant must be an active seller.
  • Active sponsors must order 175 pieces a month to receive payment.
  • Trainers will get paid when their downline is ordering a minimum of 1,750 pieces per month outside of the trainer’s personal sales.

LuLaRoe also offers “coach” status, which can be reached by meeting the minimum requirements of a Trainer as well as having at least 3 personally-sponsored qualified Trainers.

Conclusion For My LuLaRoe Review

With some information about the company and what you need to do as a fashion consultant, now we can get into the testimonials of current and previous LuLaRoe fashion consultants.

According to those consultants, here are the pros of being a part of LuLaRoe:

  • The freedom of owning your own business and running it from home
  • Buying items at wholesale prices and selling them to turn a profit
  • The affordability of the products
  • The quality of the products
  • The seasonally-updated styles allows you to offer different products and not get bored with selling the exact same things over and over
  • Access to Audrey Invoice Systems (provided by LuLaRoe) creates and organizes invoices
  • Weekly training
  • The opportunity to partake in weekly calls to chat with other fashion consultants

While LuLaRoe does seem to offer some great things, there are also things about the company that consultants did not find so wonderful:

  • The purchase of the closet for your inventory must come out of your pocket
  • The first few months are very slow and sales are limited
  • The inability of customers to try on clothes purchased online
  • The fact that you have to host many pop-up parties in order to bring in enough sales to cover your investment
  • The company’s expectation that you will be investing hundreds, and possibly thousands of dollars into inventory
  • The clothing item sizes seem to be a bit off and oftentimes run large
  • The clothing can require tailoring since many items are one-size-fits-all
  • Customers pay as low as $20 for items that other clothing retailers charge $60 for, resulting in less income for you.

There are some great positives as well as negatives to becoming a fashion consultant for LuLaRoe. The hardest thing, it seems, is that committing to LuLaRoe is a full commitment – you must be all in. LuLaRoe does not scam its consultants, but it may feel this way at times when you are being asked to invest hundreds, and even thousands of dollars into something that you aren’t getting much of a return on.

LuLaRoe suggests you build your business by creating a list of 50-100 family members and friends to promote your business to, by hosting weekly pop-up parties, by constantly advertising via flyers and social media, by investing solid amounts in inventory every month, by posting “look of the day” videos on YouTube, all awhile you may not have even made your first sale. It is wise to approach this with a realistic vision of what you think you personally can do and what your limits are.

Currently, the biggest struggle for LuLaRoe fashion consultants is their inability to create a list of leads and turn those leads into sales. Because not all these women have experience in sales, some find this more difficult than others. The top leaders in this company are women who are good at marketing themselves and push sales. LuLaRoe is not for the shy and weary, but for those who love to sell.

I definitely hope you have found value in my Review of LuLaRoe.
