Exactly What Is Foru International?
Taking a look at Foru International, here we have an MLM opportunity that exists within the niche of weight management and nutrition/health.
Foru International first started out as GeneWize Life Sciences in 2008, and according to its current website, the company is based out of Irving, Texas. This seems fine at first, but things quickly get confusing when you see that the company’s Facebook page shows an address in Orlando, Florida.
There are two co-Presidents running Foru International, including Stacey Clark and Rebecca Ortolaza. Per the two women’s corporate bios:
“Stacey Clark has over 30 years of experience in the direct selling industry, having consulted with or worked as a senior executive with over 30 different organizations.
A finance and operations executive, Stacey is a proven expert in the areas of compensation, logistics, finance, operations and customer service.
With over 13 years experience in customer service, Rebecca Ortolaza has specialized in customer care, training and compliance.
With over eight years experience in the direct selling industry, Rebecca has worked with some very large and well-known names.”
I tried looking up information outside of these bios, but I was unable to find any sort of MLM background for either women outside of their involvement with Foru International.
Capsalus Corp purchased GeneWize Life Sciences in 2012, and it’s currently the parent company for Foru International. Wharton Equity and Fidelity Holdings are credited as being “noteworthy participants” in this purchase, and they’re still mentioned on Foru’s website as financially backing the company.
A couple years later in 2014, however, Foru got into some trouble. The FTC hit the company following a complaint about deceptive advertising, and that case reads as follows:
“Back in the day, consumers looking for a personalized product had to settle for a monogrammed hanky.
GeneLink, Inc. and foru International Corporation claimed to take personalization to a new level by testing each buyer’s DNA and formulating products to address that person’s genetic weaknesses.
But according to the FTC, the companies didn’t have sound science to support their claims.”
In addition to this, the FTC claimed Foru “didn’t have sound science to support that the supplements could compensate for genetic disadvantages identified in the DNA test and reduce that person’s risk of illness.
Those promises about diabetes, heart disease, arthritis, and insomnia?
Unproven, alleged the FTC.
The complaint also challenges the companies’ claim that the skin serum was scientifically proven.”
Instead of fighting back and trying to prove the claims it was making, Foru International made the decision to just settle.
As part of this settlement, Foru International agreed to stop advertising that its products “will treat, prevent, or reduce the risk of any disease (including diabetes, heart disease, arthritis, or insomnia) by modulating the effect of genes or based on a person’s customized genetic assessment.”
With all that said, this is what the company is offering with its product line and compensation plan.
What Is The Foru International Product Line?
Starting first with the product line, Foru’s main offering is that of a DNA assessment service. I tried finding more information about this, but the website gave me an error when clicking on the product.
As such, I turned to a Facebook post from 2016 to see what this is supposed to do:
“A foru DNA Assessment tests 12 key gene SNPs.
Learn why these genes are important for your optimal health!
Receive nutritional suggestions based on your genes!
If you’d like, get nutrition personalized based on your DNA results! It’s that simple!”
Following this, it then became clear that all of Foru’s products return the same error when trying to get more details on them. It’s unclear how long the website’s been broken, but my guess is that it’s been this way for a while.
Based on promotional images on Foru’s site, the company sells a personalized formula that’s based on the above DNA test, its “Perfect Shake” weight loss drink, and Fuel — another drink that supposedly “curbs appetite” and “burns fat.”
What Can You Tell Me About The Compensation Plan For Foru International?
Moving right along to the compensation plan, Foru International does allow its affiliates to earn money via retail commissions.
A commission of 15% is offered whenever a retail order is placed, and retail customers can also choose to refer other customers in order to get a discount. Furthermore, the affiliate that referred the customer who refers other customers gets an extra 5% commission from the fourth customer that’s referred and onward.
However, Foru International’s main focus lies with recruitment commissions.
Affiliates are given a 15% rate on the first order that’s placed by personally recruited members, and an affiliate has the chance to double this if they purchase 150 BV worth of product upon signing up and convincing others to do the same.
You can sign up for Bronze, Silver, and Gold ranks upon joining, and depending on which one you choose, you’ll be able to get double recruitment commissions for a certain period of time.
Foru International also offers a variety of affiliate ranks you can work towards, but these are all centralized around recruitment and signing up with autoship orders.
What Will It Cost To Join Foru International?
If you’re interested in joining Foru International, you’ll need to purchase one of the following tiers upon joining:
- Buy 150 BV of product for Bronze
- Buy 375 BV of product for Silver
- Buy 600 BV of product for Gold
It’s possible more costs are involved, but the broken nature of the website makes this difficult to determine.
Is Foru International A Scam?
If you have heard that Foru International is a scam, then you’ve come to the right place to find out the truth.
What’s the truth – is Foru International a scam?
I would say no. However, there are some things to be aware of before joining, which I have detailed in the conclusion.
You will only be successful by recognizing the weaknesses and finding a way to move past them.
Conclusion For My Foru International Review
Speaking of the broken website, that gives me a lot of pause with Foru International. So many of the elements on the site just don’t work, and this makes it difficult to find a lot of key information anyone should be able to see.
Perhaps even more worrisome, Foru International’s SSL security certificate expired over 220 days ago. Yeah, that’s not a good look.
Add this together with a compensation plan that’s heavily focused on recruitment commissions, autoship orders, and pay-to-play, and you end up with an opportunity that I can’t recommend you join.
I definitely hope you have found value in my Review of Foru International.
I went into a lot of detail so that you can make a proper decision about whether you want to join or not.
