AmeriPlan Review – Is This A Good Opportunity Or Big Scam?
You may have noticed that AmeriPlan is getting a lot of hype and attention these days.
You might have had some friends in Network Marketing approach you about AmeriPlan, or you may have seen it on social media.
I want to let you know, first of all, that I am NOT promoting AmeriPlan as my own business opportunity. I am not an affiliate or distributor.
I have gathered here all the facts about AmeriPlan in my AmeriPlan Review – now you can learn all you need to know about it.
Is AmeriPlan really a legit business?
Is AmeriPlan a safe business to join?
Let me show you in my review of AmeriPlan.
Exactly What Is AmeriPlan?
AmeriPlan has been making quite a name for itself as of late in the MLM world, so with this being the case, I decided that now would be a better time than ever to finally look into the company to see just what it is that it has to bring to the table.
First of all, it’s worth noting that AmeriPlan is an older company. It was first launched by Dennis and Daniel Bloom back in 1992, with Dennis serving as the CEO and Chairman of the Board and Daniel being the company’s President and COO.
As per the official AmeriPlan website, “In the early 90’s, identical twin brothers Dennis and Daniel Bloom saw the need for a value-oriented discount fee-for-service dental program, and founded AmeriPlan Corporation.
Soon Dennis and Daniel expanded their vision to include a brand array of high quality, affordable healthcare programs.
To provide greater value to the consumer, they added prescription medication, vision and chiropractic care to the program at no additional charge.
Through research, trial and error and perseverance, the brothers determined that by using the best features of the direct sales marketing model, they could provide financial opportunity to thousands of people and bring these needed healthcare programs to the public.”
When looking through all of the background information and history on AmeriPlan, I was only able to find once instance in which the company ran into trouble.
This took place back in July of 2006 when John Morrison, and auditor for the state of Montana, “issued a cease and desist order after charging AmeriPlan USA, its founding officers, Dennis and Daniel Bloom, and Shirl Shelly, a Montana Resident, with numerous violations of both the Montana Insurance Code and the Montana Securities Act.”
AmeriPlan eventually settled after a few months for the total of $200,000, but what exactly happened?
Apparently, AmeriPlan was allowing residents of Montana purchase access to savings vouchers that they are then unable to use due to a considerable lack of providers throughout the state.
However, in addition to this, AmeriPlan also faced allegations that they were operating as a type of pyramid scheme, “because it sold ‘broker packages’ for the purpose of recruiting memberships.”
While this certainly is a major point of concern, this was the one and only legal issue I discovered for AmeriPlan in its 24 years of being in business. That’s a relatively good track record, but in any case, here’s the full opportunity that AmeriPlan is offering.
What Is The AmeriPlan Product Line?
Taking a look at the product line that AmeriPlan is offering, this is a company that sells subscription plans to medial discounts. There are three primary plans that AmeriPlan sells, and the include –
- AmeriPlan Dental Plus. For $24.95/month, this plan “gives you immediate savings on Dental, Vision, Prescription, Hearing, and Chiropractic services.”
- AmeriPlan MED Plus. For $24.95/month, this plan “gives you 24 Hour Access to a Doctor by phone or e-mail and immediate savings on Prescription as well as Hospital Advocacy and Ancillary Care.”
- AmeriPlan Deluxe Plus. For $39.95/month, this plan “includes our Dental Plus discount program, MED Plus and additional non-medical discounts.”
What Can You Tell Me About The Compensation Plan For AmeriPlan?
As for the compensation plan being offered by AmeriPlan, affiliates are able to earn money by selling the above subscription plans to both retail customers and affiliate that they personally recruit to join the company.
Before an affiliate starts earning though, they are required to be considered an ‘active’ member of the company.
In order to obtain this active status, an affiliate is required to either purchase one of the plans for themselves or to sell the plan to at least one retail customer.
Speaking of selling those plans to retail customers, this is one of the primary methods for affiliates to earn cash.
AmeriPlan pays out affiliate commissions in advance, with the idea that the customers they’re selling these plans to will continue to pay for them for at least 5 months.
With these retail sales, selling more and more plans to more and more customers will allow an affiliate to start earning more cash. The first sale of either the Dental Plus or MED Plus plan to a retail customer will allow an affiliate to earn $19.96, but selling one of these plans to an affiliate’s fourth retail customer will allow them to earn $49.90.
This works out in a similar fashion to selling plans to personally recruited affiliates, as affiliates are incentivized to sell these plans to new individuals that they get to join the company.
These commissions work out in a very similar fashion, as recruiting more people and getting them to sign up with a subscription plan will allow you to earn more and more as time goes on.
What Will It Cost To Join AmeriPlan?
If you’re interested in becoming an affiliate for AmeriPlan, your’e going to be required to hand over a membership fee of $24.95/year.
In addition to this, you can also qualify to start earning commissions by purchasing one of the subscription plans that I previously outlined. This isn’t required, but it’s strong encouraged by AmeriPlan.
Is AmeriPlan A Scam?
If you have heard that AmeriPlan is a scam, then you’ve come to the right place to find out the truth.
What’s the truth – is AmeriPlan a scam?
I would say not exactly. However, there are some things to be aware of before joining, which I have detailed in the conclusion.
You will only be successful by recognizing the weaknesses and finding a way to move past them.
Conclusion For My AmeriPlan Review
The final word on AmeriPlan is a bit complex.
Right off the bat, the company is operating in a bit of a fishy manner by selling subscription services with access to discounts on other things. The company isn’t necessarily selling a real product or service, but rather discounts on other products/services.
Retail subscription sales are a possibility with the company’s compensation plan, and that’s a very good thing. Unfortunately, these sales aren’t required at all. Affiliates can very much join the company, qualify for commissions by purchasing a plan themselves, and then recruit other individuals to do the same thing.
In fact, AmeriPlan strongly encourages affiliates to purchase a subscription plan for themselves.
As per the AmeriPlan website, “While there is no membership purchase required, your business will grow and flourish more quickly if you are a satisfied member and have money-saving stories to share with others. We recommend that you purchase one of our Discount Memberships and then USE it, to SAVE money then SHARE your money saving stories with others.”
There isn’t anything wrong with people purchasing these plans, but there is something wrong with affiliates being able to purchase these plans in order to qualify for commissions.
AmeriPlan has the potential to operate as a pyramid scheme, and it also has the potential to operate as completely legitimate MLM opportunity.
If a healthy amount of retail sales activity is taking place within the company, then that’s a very good sign that there isn’t anything fishy taking place. However, if the majority of affiliates are purchasing the plan to simply qualify for commissions and then recruiting other people to do the same thing, you’re going to get yourself wrapped up in a chain-recruitment game.
Talk to your potential upline about the kind of activity that takes place, and determine whether or not there’s a strong retail presence in your area. If so, you’re in the clear! If not, you might want to look elsewhere.
